A company has been experiencing a high level of involuntary turnover among its salespeople and wants to address this through improved personnel selection processes. The company currently selects salespeople using a job knowledge test. The company will continue to use the job knowledge test, but they will also add one other selection tool. They can choose between using either (a) an intelligence test, or (b) a personality test designed to assess extroversion. A previous criterion-related validity study has shown that the intelligence test correlates r = .50 with a criterion that assesses job satisfaction; whereas a second study has shown that the extroversion test correlates r = -.50 with a supervisor performance rating criterion.
