The world continues to get smaller and smaller and healthcare is moving more and more toward globalization. Additionally, age and population growth are a factor in the need for more healthcare practitioners. The cost of healthcare continues to increase and the number of physicians continues to retract. According to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) there will be a projected shortage of over 20,000 physicians by 2020. However, if nurses are permitted to function to the fullest extent of their licensure, this shortage could be lessened. What roles do you see nursing performing over the next 10-20 years?
