Question

According to the US Office of Health Equity, health disparities are "preventable factors and differences that disproportionately affect certain people and groups" (Correll, 2024). There are many dimensions of health disparities in our society. They include health outcomes and status differences, such as disease rates, mortality, morbidity, and life expectancy. There are also disparities in access to care and the quality of care provided. (Ndugga et al., 2024). The groups most likely to be affected by health disparities in the US are racial and ethnic minorities, low-income individuals, rural populations, elderly and disabled individuals, and members of the LGBTQ community (Ndugga et al., 2024). Understanding health disparities, what they are, and who they affect would influence my thoughts and actions in developing my marketing plan by knowing that I would need to incorporate the principles of the population health model into my plan. This would begin with conducting a community needs assessment. (Thomas, 2020) This would allow me to understand the specific health challenges the region's residents face and where gaps in current healthcare services and delivery exist.
