The state health department's role is to prevent injuries and violence in policy making by identifying problems, analyzing current policies, develop strategy and policy recommendations, and finally, enact and implement recommendations (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (U.S.), 2015). Community-based organizations (COBS) are able to help meet community needs by providing much needed services that governing entities are unable to due to funding (The Petrie-Flom Center Staff, 2021).
