Questions
1. Have you ever experienced a situation similar to the one described in the scenario? If so, briefly describe it. Yes, I have. One day I was playing soccer with my family everything was going so well, but the next day, my back heel and ankle were swelled and tendered; it was very painful I could not even wear shoe, but I did not go to the hospital, because we couldn't afford to see a specialist ; I put ice and my mom rub it with black castor oil.
2. If we truly had a "health care system" in this country, how would this scenario be different? Sometimes injury might seems minor at first, then later become a big deal. If we had a health care system, Chad would have been agreed on calling 911 for the emergency medical technician(EMTs) could transported him to the hospital, in order for a specialist to check his injury; He would have had access to quality care with low or no cost.
3. Do you think Chad did the right thing? In my opinion yes, because if EMT is requested, regardless of who requested them, and EMT provide treatment on scene, even if you refuse transport to the hospital, you will receive a bill for that treatment.
4. If I were Chad, I would do the exact same thing; Iced it down, take two painkillers, then wait until tomorrow to see how it feels.
5. The option available to Chad that seems least expensive might be his own family doctor and the most expensive is hospital emergency room, because the resources at the emergency room are sparse and intended to only be used for serious, life-threatening issues.
