Because of this health care organizations are spending extra money when a patient is injured due to a fall that could have been completely avoidable and could have prevented unnecessary injury to the patient. Falls are one of the most common as well as preventable causes for injury in older adults according to the report that was completed by the CDC in 2018. The report states that about one in four older adults report following which is equivalent to around 36 million falls per year. Out of those 36 million falls per year about eight million of the falls require medical attention and limit patient activity for at least one day.
