This should be a detailed, comprehensive, and high-quality proposal.

The first step is to select a topic to research. You may select a topic of your choice. Keep in mind that the topic you choose should be relevant to the field of healthcare management. It may be a good idea to choose a topic that you will be able to apply to your future goals.

Choose a topic that is interesting to you, and narrow enough in scope so that you are able to research it in depth within the context of this course. It is important, however, that you discuss the theoretical significance of your research within the context of the field you are studying. The narrower and more focused your topic is, the better and more focused your research will be.

Here are some suggestions for research:

1. What role do primary care providers play in the coordination of healthcare?

2. How does team leadership impact the hospital setting?

3. What is a managed care organization and how does it work?

4. Who are third-party payers and what are their roles in reimbursement?

5. Who are mid-level providers in healthcare and what models do they follow and how are they differentiated?

6. What laws govern prescribing medications, scheduling, and how is each law evolving?

7. How have responsibilities in leadership changed over the last ten years in different healthcare facilities?

8. What is a skilled-nursing facility and how does it operate?

9. Describe a durable power of attorney for healthcare and living wills.

10. What are palliative care and hospice care?

11. How do pediatric and adult healthcare differ?

12. What is a hospital report card?

13. Explain the purpose of and history behind The Joint Committee.
