Question 1. Have you ever experienced indoctrination in your own life? Please describe what happened (if you are comfortable doing so). Did you know at the time you were being indoctrinated? If so, how did you know? If not, when/how did you realize it?
Question 2. If you didn't do it when l assigned Essay #3, look up the words "education" and "indoctrination." Do you believe that these ideas are truly distinct, or does one's own perspective come into play when determining if something is indoctrinationa/ or educational? Explain.
Question 3. In American common usage, indoctrination has a negative connotation and is typically used to describe instances where indoctrination is being used to disseminate false or dangerous ideas. Is this necessarily always the case? Can indoctrination be used for a noble purpose? Why or why not?
Question 4. Revisit The Matrixand our Plato, Marx, and Newman readings. Are these works attempting to educate us or to indoctrinate us? How do you know? Do any of these works suggest that it is in fact they who are working to deprogram us from past indoctrination? Explain.
