1. Have you ever been labeled? How did that label affect your self-perception or the way others perceived you? A label is a word, just a word. Yet this word somehow categorized you. How about the label "gifted" or "great looking". How about the label "class clown" or "troublesome". If we are called these words/labels enough, do we start to believe them ourselves? Do we begin to act these labels out? Wow, language is some powerful stuff!!

Answer ALL the questions below as your initial post.

"Do you think parents and/or teacher respond differently to overly energetic children once they are given the label "hyperactive" or diagnosed with having "attention deficit hyperactivity disorder?" What effect would one of these labels have on the way children perceive themselves? Do you think it would be a relief to have a label to describe one's behavior, or would it likely lead to a negative self-concept?"
