Homework: Sustaining Improvements
In the serving phase of implementing a Continuous Improvement Plan, educational leaders assess the effectiveness of the changes that have been implemented. Because changes occur frequently in education due to CIPs as well as other school, district, state, or federal initiatives, faculty and staff sometimes become victims of decision fatigue, and are unable to sustain the new practices that are introduced.
Knowing the importance of a school CIP, consider how you as a leader would motivate, rationalize, and promote sustainable change on your school's campus. Consider your feelings about change and how change is perceived on your campus.
For this homework, continue to review the site's CIP and measurable outcomes. Consider the degree to which the chosen actions in the CIP are not only effective, but also sustainable.
In a 500 to 750 words narrative, address the following:
Question 1. Have the implemented action plans from the CIP been effective? What results or data support your choice?
Question 2. How have the results been (or how will they be) reported to stakeholders? What is your evaluation of these methods?
Question 3. In those areas where improvement actions have been successful, how will leadership, faculty, and staff continue to promote change and sustain the results? Will they need additional resources? Explain.
