You are then required to develop and propose a policy draft that you would recommend to the key stakeholders of the Hospitality and Tourism Industry.
Assessment Description
The purpose of this individual proposal is to develop students' skills in examining contemporary tourism and hospitality issues from legal and regulatory perspectives. This will enable students to apply learned theories, concepts and tools in weeks 10 to 12 to a real-world case.
Instructions
Choose the most recent disaster that has had a significant impact on the Hospitality and Tourism Industry. In making this choice, you are to conduct preliminary research to determine the availability of information. If you find that the number of credible sources about your chosen disaster is limited, please consult your workshop facilitator to discuss an alternative. Please note that the date range of the literature must not exceed five years.
Once you have gathered a wide range of sources, you are required to identify and examine the legal and regulatory factors that a tourism/hospitality governing body must consider in the future to minimise/avoid the negative impacts of such disaster. More specifically, you are required to report on the following aspects:
• A concise overview of the disaster and its impact on the hospitality and tourism sector (300 words)
• Critically examine and analyse legal and regulatory issues that may have contributed to the impact of this disaster (400 words).
• Propose a policy draft for hospitality and tourism governing bodies by stating its objectives, and involved stakeholders (400 words).
• Provide a validation statement in which you must justify your recommended policy draft and its significance (400 words).
In creating your report, you will need to use at least 12 sources of information that are referenced in accordance with Kaplan Harvard Referencing Guide. These may include corporate websites, government publications, industry reports, census data, journal articles, and newspaper articles.
