According to our text studies show that defensive medicine seems to be harming health care physicians are acting out of fear for malpractice suits and their actions are not beneficial to the treatment of the patient it is increasing health care costs and patients are losing trust in their providers to provide quality care. Ordering unneccessary tests for example is an unethical and illegal act that wastes the patients time and the hospitals resources. Defensive medicine may be helping to fix one problem hence; creating an even greater one.
