Slide 1: Thematic Statement (a thesis statement when you have been given a theme/topic word, not a question to respond to) 

1.  A thematic statement for the entire play that relates to ONE of the following motifs: betrayal, corruption, or greed.

Slides 2-6: Act Lines and Symbol

1. Select ONE speech from each Act (5 total) that advances the motif you are exploring and contributes to the theme.
   • On each slide, highlight the specific lines in the speech of each Act that are particularly effective in expressing the theme/motif.
   • In selecting a speech, you may include dialogue from more than one character. Select the lines in the speech that are most pertinent to proving your thematic statement.
2. write ONE symbol per Act, an image/visual that demonstrates how the lines/speech that you selected enhances the understanding of the motif and how it contributes to your theme.
   • If you are an artist, you are most welcome to use your own artwork for this project, but it is not required.
   • Get creative with the symbols you choose. Don't only look at stock photos/images, but consider using your own drawings, photography, or that of your family and friends. Consider paintings or other forms of art that thoughtfully represent the ideas you are trying to convey.   
   • Be sure to cite your sources accurately. Give the source of any image as Works Cited in Part B.
