Discussion 1.
1. Which of the four approaches to reality do you favor or use in life? Can they all be valid at the same time? Why or why not?
2. Can reality really be known in itself, or do we settle for some uncertainty in all of life?
3. What makes you certain that you exist, or even that you will continue to exist?
Discussion 2.
Use the four-step course methodology of understanding, analysis, evaluation and application.
Explain the validity each type of approach (revelation or science), and the value of each.
1. How important is this debate right now, both in the halls of education and in the community of faith? Which will win out for the hearts and minds of future generations?
2. Which is more important to understand the truth of reality?
3. Can we integrate faith and evidence, or do we need to choose only between two extremes?
4. Are there other approaches to categorize this debate, for example, Kuhn, Hartshorne, or others? (Think about how Occam's Razor applies to any of these approaches.)
Discussion 3.
1. Does evil exist, and does it have its own reality?
2. How does one explain the problem of the cause and origin of evil?
3. Is God the author of evil or sin (by default) because He is the Creator? Explain why or why not (think of His love, power, and goodness).
