About half of the sodium carbonate produced is used in making glass products because it lowers the melting point of sand, the major component of glass. When sodium carbonate is added to water it hydrolyses according to the following reactions.
CO32-(aq) + H2O(l) HCO3-(aq) + OH-(aq) K1
HCO3-(aq) + H2O(l) H2CO3(aq) + OH-(aq) K2
These can be combined to yield
CO32-(aq) + 2H2O(l) H2CO3(aq) + 2OH-(aq) K3
What is the value of K3? and Explain?
Put the following steps of GroEL-GroES chaperonin function in order, starting with an unfolded polypeptide and ending with a polypeptide in its native conformation
21.76g chromium(III) sulfate is dissolved in enough water to give 500.0 mL of solution. 10.00 mL of this solution is pipetted into a 250.0-mL volumetric flask and diluted to the mark.
A 28.4 g sample of C2H5OH is burned in a calorimetry containing 1.0 kg water. The temperature of the calorimetry and its contents rose from 25.00 Celcius to 29.71 Celsius. Determine the heat involved in the combustion of 1.0 mole of C2H5OH
Question- A buffer is prepared by adding 30.0g of sodium acetate (CH3COONa) to 600mL of a 0.150M acetic acid (CH3COOH) solution. Determine the pH of the solution. Ka=1.8 x 10^-5
This is the reaction that occurs for a bunsen burner, which is a source of heat for chemical reactions in the laboratory. CH4(g) + 2O(g) CO2(g) + 2H2O (g); for the system at equilibrium, which of the following explains what happens to the equili..
Pyruvic acid, HC3H3O3, is involved in cell metabolism. It can be assayed for (that is, the amount of it determined) by using a yeast enzyme. The enzyme makes the following reaction go to completion.
Calculate the theoretical yield in grams for the mononitration of acetanilide, assuming that you begin with 0.5g of acetanilide.
The molar energy of vacancy formation for silver (Ag), ?Hv, is 84 kJ/mol. Given this information, determine for Ag the vacancy density (number of vacancies/cm3) at 1103 K. Assume the pre-exponential factor is one.
