How was this culture able to survive and thrive during such tumultuous times? How do you explain this juxtaposition of bloody warfare and peaceful, serene culture?

Question 3. Throughout the history of Japan, individuals or clans who have held power have ruled through the Imperial Family - not deposing them in fear of angering Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess. If Oda Nobunaga believed he so divine and extraordinary that he didn't need a title like Shogun to rule or bring legitimacy to his government, why didn't he just depose the Emperor and unify Japan under a new dynasty?

Question 4. If Toyotomi Hideyoshi hadn't invaded Korea, depleted his most loyal vassals of their resources, and angered even his closest allies, do you think Tokugawa Ieyasu would have still been able to gather allies and win the Battle of Sekigahara after Hideyoshi's death?
