A young man is addicted to crack cocaine and supports his habit by dealing and robbing local businesses. His crimes usually involved drug transactions and petty theft, but he is hard up for money and beginning to suffer from withdrawal. The young man decides to rob a local body shop. He knows that the shop deals in stolen auto parts and that the owner is there after hours for those special customers. The sign on the door says that the shop closes at 6 p.m., but when the young man enters at 7:30 p.m., the door is unlocked. When the owner of the shop enters from the back and asks whether he can help the young man with anything, the young man gets cold feet and runs out the door. A hidden camera captured the young man's venture into the shop. If the young man is charged with attempted robbery, what is his best defense?
