Consider how you might use information technology in group projects for your university classes. Using the discussion of IS requirements for collaboration presented in Q2-4, answer the following questions:
a. Suppose that a group member wants to use nothing but face-to-face meetings, email, and texting for communication. What problems can you expect if you use only these methods? How might these methods affect group communication and content sharing?
These methods might affect each student’s quality of content, as each student in the university have different schedules it will be very hard to find a time that is convenient for all the members of the group. Texting and email communication is also can also pose an issue as one might not prioritize an important aspect of a group task. Both emailing and texting might be not a great way to share content as things could easily be lost or missed in a inbox or text message.
b. Assuming you are using only face-to-face meetings, email, texting, PowerPoint, and Excel, how will you share documents? What problems might you expect?
Sharing documents would have to be in person or through email. A student who has a lot of emails or papers could easily lose the work that are received by other students.
c. Consider the four purposes of collaboration activities mentioned in Q2-3. For which purpose(s) might you use online data storage tools like Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive?
The 4 purposes of collaboration activities are to become informed, make decisions, solve problems and manage projects. Google drive, dropbox and one drive all provide cloud based storage so one could store and share documents with one and another fast. In a business setting using dropbox you could easily share and assign and track access that each valuable information is distributed.
