You did a great job distinguishing between for-profit and not-for-profit healthcare organizations. In the United States, there are both not-for-profit and for-profit health systems. Not-for-profit healthcare systems account for the largest number of facilities. Both hospitals employ healthcare professionals to take care of the patients and operate in a tightly regulated framework. However there are key features that distinguish the two. For profit hospitals are owned by investors and shareholders and not only provides care to the patients but also generate income for investors (Rosko et al., 2020). The hospitals are in business and gets the most advanced healthcare technologies and provide superior care to the patients. On the other hand, nonprofit hospitals are not in business and their profit are used to fund the facility's operations (Rosko et al., 2020). These hospitals have tax-exempt status which require them to provide more community-based health programs and care to all patients regardless of their financial status.
