You have just graduated and accepted a position with Bethlehem Bytes, a local software company. You have 18 designers and engineers working for you. In truth, employees have NEVER received coaching and feedback. If performance appraisals are done at all, they are definitely not shared. You talk with your predecessor, who is retiring, on his way out. "Coaching, feedback? I never do that. Everyone knows what to do. Appraisals? Don't start doing that - you don't want to ruffle their feathers" He's now gone. You start work on March 3rd. You want to lead by giving direction and coaching with feedback.
