As you may recall, Texas Governor Rick Perry sought the Republican Party's nomination for President. Likewise, of course, President George W. Bush had served as this state's governor for six years. Indeed, four of the last six presidents had previously served as governors of their respective states. Assess the extent to which service in this office offers good preparation for a future president. Do you think that someone serving as Governor of Texas would be better prepared than someone serving in the same capacity in another state? Why or why not?
