Government often imposes excise taxes on buyers and sellers of specific products in order to raise revenue to support public services. Use the concept of price elasticity to explain how the burden of an excise tax is actually split between consumers and producers.  Draw a supply and demand graph for a product that would show consumers would pay the most of the excise tax. On this graph show the amount of tax revenue that would be generated and the amount of deadweight loss.
