Scenario 1:
An 8th grade class is visiting the health department as part of a field trip. You are required to give a short presentation to the students about the profession of health promotion and education. Scenario 2:
Your supervisor informs you that your division of the ADPH is interested in creating a new health education and promotion program. You are tasked with the responsibility of creating a proposal with an emerging rationale for the project and a brief outline of potential program components. (HINT - Let the National data and objectives drive your selection of a health topic area and target population)
Your written "proposal" should include the following:
I. Emerging Rationale:
a. Identification of the health topic area (ex. physical activity) and target population (ex. adolescents) for the proposed program, as well as a broad goal for the program (i.e. increase daily physical activity among adolescents in Alabama).
b. A brief overview of the current status of this health topic area at the National and state level.
i. Provide epidemiological data from National and state-level sources to discuss the prevalence and impact of the health topic area for your target population.
ii. Discuss the Healthy People 2020 objective(s) that align with the health topic area and proposed program goal.
II. Brief Outline of Potential Program Components:
a. An outline of the potential program components using the socio-ecological model. You should include at least one program component at each level.
III. Reference list:
a. A reference list should be provided in APA format for all sources used in the completion of the proposal. You should use at least 3 sources to support your proposal. Please use in-text citations when paraphrasing information presented in the sources.
