Reflective Essay

For this assignment, you are required to submit an individual reflective essay on one of the readings from the first 7 weeks of the course. A reflective essay is one where you use a question, or, in this case, a particular reading, to consider your own position in relation to a topic, and to draw a deeper understanding and critique of the issue from that. You do, however, need to use other academic materials and evidence to support your argument.

Key requirements:

There are two parts to this assignment:
1. Workshop discussion: in the week for which your reading is set, you will be asked to:
a. summarise key points of the reading, and
b. start class discussion

2. Write a 2,000-word reflective essay (30%) on the reading, to be submitted online via Turnitin, before 11:59pm on the Friday of the week *after* your set reading. For example - if you choose Week 4, you will summarise the reading and start discussion on the topic that week, and your written assignment will be due on the Friday of Week 5.

Please note that this means if you choose a reading from Week 7, your essay will be due on the Sunday of Week 8.

Adverse Circumstances:

The course schedule states that the reflective essays deadline is in week 10. This only applies to special valid cases whereby students have applied for adverse circumstances.

Any other late occurrences not falling within the UON policy will occur a 10% penalty per day.

You should write your reflective essay before the week we are discussing your reading. You will present the reading in class and then have time to review and submit your final submission on the following week.
