His use of ambiguous language may also reflect how he regarded her. As someone who was black and a woman, she likely didn't hold as much value to him. For both of these reasons, his descriptions of her were more vague than those of George Latimer. The slave owner may have also presumed that by finding George Latimer, his wife would also be returned incidentally.

The descriptions give the impression that Rebecca is genteel and perhaps somewhat submissive. This wording may have been used to encourage people to look for those characteristics in the interactions of any couple that resembled George and Rebecca.
