In the downlink of a CDMA system, each users' signal is spread onto a pseudonoise sequence.13 Uncoded BPSK modulation is used, with a processing gain of G. Soft handoff is performed by sending the same symbol to the mobile from mul- tiple base-stations, the symbol being spread onto independently chosen pseudonoise sequences. The mobile receiver has knowledge of all the sequences used to spread the data intended for it as well as the channel gains and can detect the transmitted symbol in the optimal way. We ignore fading and assume an AWGN channel between the mobile and each of the base-stations.
1. Give an expression for the detection error probability for a mobile in soft handoff between two base-stations. You may need to make several simplifying assumptions here. Feel free to make them but state them explicitly.
2. Now consider a whole network where each mobile is already assigned to a set of base-stations among which it is in soft handoff. Formulate the power control problem to meet the error probability requirement for each mobile in the downlink.
An oscilloscope shows the period of an ac waveform to be 3.5 horizontal divisions when the timebase control is set to "10 ms/Div". What is the measured period and frequency of the waveform
You are repairing a guided transmission system made up oftransmitter module, coaxial link and a receiver. The receiver'serror rate has jumped dramatically recently after an electrical storm when several repairs were made to the system.
A designer searches for a simple circuit to provide one-third of a signal current I to a load resistance R. Suggest a solution using one resistor. What must its value be. What is the input resistance of the resulting current divider
a) Why is it that if the power system of interest is physically smaller than the wavelength, we can represent it as a lumped-parameter system b) Why a long wavenenth requires a gigantic antennas
Use Smith Chart: A 100 Ohm air-coaxial transmission line is measured to have an input impedance of 100 + j100 Ohms. If the system is operated at 100 MHz and is one meter long, what is the terminating load impedance
What does the CPU do
Construct a 2 rung ladder schematice with an AC source with overload protection in the main line, the schematic will contain 1 rung with a lamp load controlled by a N.O. Push button. On the second rung there will be a N.C.
Explain the difference between hard-decision and soft-decision decoding in partial response signaling, including the relative advantages and disadvantages of each.
Use this table of part c to determine the mean, median, and mode of the grouped data. Compare your results with those in part A, and comment. E. use the frequency table of part C. to determine the variance and the standard deviation of the groupe..
Find the potential energy of the system of 3 charges.
An audio amplifier system, using a noinverting op-amp circuit, needs to have a small-signal bandwidth of 20kHz. The open-loop low-frequency voltage gain of the op-amp is 10^5 and the unity -gain bandwidth is 1 MHz.
The car lead-acid battery has generally 12 V output voltage, and its internal resistance is so small that can be neglected. When starting the engine, the current of 462 A is flowing from the battery to supply the "car starter"
