This update operation is used in all three of the shortest paths algorithms that we have studied:

update (u, v, w) if dist[v] > dist[u] + w dist[v] = dist[u] + w prev[v] = u

Suppose that we want to modify one of these algorithms so that in the case of a tie for shortest path to a given vertex, the path with the fewest number of edges is preferred.

We begin by declaring a new array edges[u] that contains the number of edges in the shortest known path to from the start vertex to u. Initially, edges[s] = 0 (for the start vertex s) and edges[v] = 8 (for every other vertex v).

Give a revised implementation for update() that will cause each of the three algorithms to behave as desired.
