Question: The following scenario pertains to Questions 1-5.

A project consists of the following 5 elements. Assume that the CapEx (capital expenditure) takes place at the beginning of each element, that there are 40 working hours in a week, and that labor is charged at $100/hr. The precedents are given in the second column.

Element Dependencies       CapEx         Duration      Total hrs

A Can start immediately     $5,000      4 weeks        160

B Can start immediately     $10,000     4 weeks        160

C B needs to be complete  $8,000      2 weeks         80

D A and C need to be complete   $12,000 1 week     40

E C needs to be complete   $9,000     2 weeks         80

Question 1:

Using PlanBee scheduling software set up a project (AoN) for the project shown above,

then display a PERT chart for the project. Simply capture the screen with something like Snagit and paste the JPG in here. I am suggesting PlanBee, because it is easy to learn. If you already have MS Project on your computer, you may use that instead.

Question 2:

Create the Gantt chart for the project and paste it in here.

Question 3:

Give a cost estimate for the project, without contingencies.

Question 4:

Using the software Projrisk supplied, calculate the additional contingency for this project so that you will have a 90% confidence of having sufficient funds. Please ensure YOU provide the answer from the software. The examiner will NOT interpret any software pastings you include. However - please paste a copy of the data you have entered and also any relevant backups to support your answer. Also paste a copy of your S-curve in here.

Assume the following, based on past experience:

Expected variation on all materials -5%, +10% triangular distribution

Expected variation on labor -5%, +5% [10]

Question 5:

At the end of the third week you are compiling a progress report.

Task A is proceeding as per plan. However, B is a problem. You have only completed 50% of the work, and you have already booked 140 hours on the job. All CapEx has already been done.

Calculate the following (IF THERE ARE ERRORS - I CAN TRY AND GIVE MARKS BUT ONLY IF FORMULAE ARE SUPPLIED AS WELL):
BAC
BCWS
BCWP
ACWP
SPI
CPI
CV
SV
ETC
EAC
