Question: This week's discussion has two parts, which you should tie together into one cohesive post (i.e. not split into two separate sections):

1) Find a protein mentioned in the news (ideally recently). It could be one that causes disease or is part of a new cure or even a new role for an old protein. Try searching 'protein molecular biology news' or 'protein science now'. Give a brief summary of why it is/was newsworthy.

2) Read through the original research article that they cite (or at least try to understand as much as you can--these can sometimes be very complex) and do your best to explain structure (including secondary structure) and function (e.g. structural, enzymatic, regulatory, or transport). If they don't write about structure, you may need to look that up in a protein database. Be sure to cite both the popular science article and the primary research paper.
