Learning Outcome 1: Demonstrate understanding of fundamental mathematical concepts required for further studies in engineering and computer science.
Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate an appreciation for how basic aspects of mathematics (algebraic) can be used to solve real-world problems and help with general problem-solving skills
Learning Outcome 3: Apply basic mathematical concepts to solve real world problems.
SECTION A:
1) List the numbered regions that make up the answer to each of the following:

a) B' ∩ A
b) A U (B ∩ C)
c) C ∩ (B U A)'

It is given that
and C = AB.
a) Evaluate C and explain what the numbers in your answer represent in complete sentences.
b) In addition, D = (100 200). Evaluate DC and explain what your answer represents.
SECTION B
1. In a box, there are 120 red, 290 blue and, 304 green stones. One stone is picked up randomly. What is the probability that it is neither the red nor the green?
2. A plane has traveled 26 miles on a course heading 48º east of north. How far north (x) has the plane traveled at this point, to the nearest tenth of a mile?

3. Suppose you are car is far away from home. If your car lies at point A(10, 12) and home is at B(110, 210), then:
a. Calculate the distance from point A to B
b. Calculate the midpoint of the distance.
4. The product of two positive integers is 176. One number is 5 more than the other. Find the smaller number.
