Gillette's last ad campaign "We believe: the best man can be" launched earlier this year, shows a perspective on modern manhood as part of a general shift to the slightly modified tag "The best a man can Get." The video begins with images of notably disturbed-looking men, while the narrator refers to bullying, sexual harassment and toxic masculinity. Then he asks the question "Is it the best a man can get?" The viewer sees depictions of a range of very ugly and negative behaviors, including bullying, fighting, sexual harassment, and glaring interference with a woman speaking in the workplace. The announcement goes on to say that it is time for men to stop making excuses and renounce the idea that "boys will be boys." Gillette concludes that by calling and showing images of men blaming other men and emphasizing that today's boys will be tomorrow's men. The ad has generated strong reactions on social channels, and the brand is facing a wave of reaction to the ad. Was Gillette marketing strategy a good or bad?
