ASSIGNMENT - READING RESPONSE

Question - Based on this week's lecture and readings, answers the following questions:

- How can you define Haussmannization?

- What instigated Haussmannization?

- Discuss how these changes affected people's lives?

Goal - Your reading response should demonstrate your grasp of the main concepts from lecture and the readings, and your ability to discuss and analyze them further.

Format - Write your answer in a short essay:

- 500 words (without references), please don't exceed the word limit,

- double-spaced text, 1-inch margins, 12pt font,

- citation formats: APA or MLA, your choice,

- submit to Quercus as PDF or DOCX.

Despite the short format, try to adopt a formal structure to your essay; meaning have a brief introduction, a few body paragraphs and a short conclusion. You have to cite at least one of the two readings assigned this week, and you can also reference the lecture. Don't forget your reference list and always proofread your assignment before you submit!

Evaluation: You will be evaluated on your ability to structure a coherent essay around a thesis/argument and on the clarity of your writing, i.e. how clearly you explain a concept.
