Fragile X syndrome is an X-linked recessive autosomal recessive disorder that causes variable levels of cognitive impairment. Cystic fibrosis is an disease that affects chloride ion transport across membranes, which causes severe respiratory effects.

Individual 1 has two X chromosomes, is a carrier of Fragile X Syndrome, and is unaffected by cystic fibrosis (but their father has cystic fibrosis).

Individual 2 has XY chromosomes, does not have cystic fibrosis or Fragile X syndrome. Their mother had cystic fibrosis.

What is Individual 1's genotype?

What is Individual 2's genotype?

What are the probabilities (fractions or percentages) for all possible genotypes of the progeny of the two individuals? Use a Punnett square to show your work.

What is the probability (fraction or percentage) of the two individuals having a child with cystic fibrosis that is also affected by Fragile X Syndrome? Show your work.
