Genetically modified foods

Genetically modified (GM) seeds and plants are becoming more and more ubiquitous in agribusiness, particularly in the U.S., as companies such as Monsanto invest millions of dollars in their research and development. Genetically modified foods have made their way into our food chain, often without our knowledge. Do some research and provide arguments regarding the effects, or proposed effects, these types of foods might have on the consumer. I don't want you to limit your research, but you might find this NY Times Article on GMOs an interesting place to start. Are they good? Are they bad? Or, is the verdict still out?
