Genetic Disorders and Environmental Influences

Choose one of the chromosomal or gene-linked disorders mentioned in the textbook to reply to the questions/statements below. (Down syndrome), Begin the post with a brief description of a fictional child with this disorder and some of the child's environmental influences. In the case study, be sure to include the child's name, age, living arrangements (with parents, etc.), and important environmental influences (i.e., socioeconomic status, parental support, child abuse history). The fictional child needs to have experienced at least one negative environmental influence.

Using the chromosomal or gene-liked disorder that we chose, share at least two examples of how a child's environment with this disorder could impact their development.

Describe at least two ways a mother's prenatal care may be impacted if the disorder you chose was detected while the baby was in utero.

Assess what the postpartum period may look like for parents of a child with a chromosomal or gene-linked disorder. What might the parents be feeling, thinking, etc.?

What assistance could you provide to the parents during the postpartum period and beyond?
