McDonald's has focused on changing tastes and preferences by developing more healthy alternatives on its menus. It developed Happy Meals and in-store playgrounds to appeal to children. The company has tried to improve the quality of its service by hiring mystery shoppers to evaluate service, cleanliness, and food quality. McDonald's has developed different menus and restaurant designs in various countries around the world. More recently, the company increased the nutritional content of its Happy Meals and began posting calorie counts on its menus.

On the other hand, others say that McDonald's is a nonsustainable, profits from animal cruelty, and generates unacceptable levels of toxic trash.

Is it simply unrealistic to expect an international corporation like McDonald's to achieve profit and meet all these social concerns?
