Using a range of sources, categorise, interpret and review the information to generate ideas for improvement for your organisation. Sources of information could include any of the following:

-Australia or overseas - look at what is happening throughout Australia and around the world. Find inspirational acts to talk about, and look at more off-beat news, such as unusual businesses, young entrepreneurs or emerging economy trends

-Colleagues outside of the team - bring in other colleagues to your team environment, and encourage them to build relationships. This is a great way to exchange information and spark ideas through conversation

-Family and friends - encourage your team to talk to their family, friends and people. It may bring in different views and perspectives on work situations, and a comment said in isolation may be a great way to turn around a thought or idea

-Internet - the internet is a great source for finding quirky news and following interesting trends. With so much information to hand, this should be a much-valued resource to inspire your team

-Journals - read specific business journals and discuss the interesting articles with your team. You could bring the journals into your organisation and if you have a break area leave the journals there and encourage your team to take time to read them

-Networks or technical experts - talking to experts will provide professional sources of information for your team and it is a great way to exchange information

-Other organisations - look at how other organisations operate, and if a process works well for them, you could consider if it would work well for you and your organisation.

1. Demonstrate your reading skills throughout by gathering and reviewing information. Make sure the ideas generated are relevant to your workplace.

2. Communicate the information and ideas you have generated in writing to members of your team. Use clear language throughout so it is easily understandable and use a format which is appropriate for your intended audience. Completed documents should be attached to the workbook.

3. Produce a written plan to implement routine tasks. Demonstrate that you can make decisions within the scope of your own responsibility and seek assistance when required. Use analytical or lateral thinking processes to identify improvements or new ways of approaching tasks. You should also demonstrate that you can identify and anticipate operational problems and develop possible solutions for them. Show the plan to the assessor or attach completed documents to the workbook, demonstrating that you have completed the task.
