1. The pressure of a fluid can be related to its height through the equation, P=ρgH where P is the pressure, ρ is the density of the fluid, g is the standard acceleration due to gravity and H is the height of the fluid.

2. The pump efficiency (η) can be calculated by dividing the water power, PW, [the total pressure head, Pt (in Pa) multiplied by the volumetric flow rate, Q, (in m3/s)] by the pump shaft power, PIN:
