1. In this lab, the materials used to produce coacervates were gelatin suspension (1%), gum arabic suspension (1%), and hydrochloric acid (0.1M). How do these materials you used tomake coacervates compare with those that might have been present inthe ancient oceans?

2. When dilute hydrochloric acid was added (to the gelatinsuspension which was mixed with the gum arabic suspension) beyond acertain point, the coacervates disappeared. (what we did wasmix 5mL of gelatin suspension and 3mL of gum arabic suspension +HCL until the solution was uniformly cloudy. we continued todo this until the solution became clear again. when it became clearagain, there were no more coacervates as there was none in theoriginal solution before the HCL was added). What might you add to the test tube to make the coacervates disappear?

3. How might the coacervate droplets be more visible under the microscope?
