Question 4:
The flow of gases from an enclosure containing fire depends on the pressure differences between the enclosure and the surroundings. A quantification of the pressure differences is therefore of fundamental importance. It is convenient to split the driving pressure differences into two categories. In the first category the pressure differences are caused by the fire. In the second category the pressure differences are caused by normal conditions that are either always present in a building or are created by differences in conditions inside and outside of the building.
