Part 1
Approximately a decade ago state of Victoria in Australia hit by one of the worst bushfire disasters in the history. On 7th February 2009, various parts of the Victorian forest were covered under the blazes of bushfire. It claimed number of deaths, sever injuries and displacement of the citizens; and a huge property as well as environmental loss. The incident was named as "Black Saturday: one of the darkest days in Australia's peacetime history(*)" due to its severity and impacts. You are required to prepare a report by referring to the following significant documents or reports:

1. The 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission report, Summary report and Volume I to IV;

2. Bush Fire Post Event Reviews and Inquiries, NSW Rural Fire Service Library;

3. Victorian 2009 Bushfire Research Response, Bushfire CRC;

4. Annual Report 2009, Country Fire Authority (CFA);

however, you are allowed to use other resources such as research articles, e-books, national or international organisations' official reports.

Your report must include the following points with description:

A. Introduction (limited to 200 words)

B. Sequence of events and incident's aftermath (limited to 300 words)

C. Fire and emergency service response and lessons learnt from the incident (limited to 300 words)

D. Investigation of causes and Enquiry of the incident (limited to 400 words)

E. Conclusion (limited to 100 words)

Part 2

Put forward your opinions from the fire investigator's point of view in light of wildland fires and their investigations. (limited to 700 words)
NB: Reference section must be allocated separately for each part.

Formatting Guidelines:
o Page setup
» Use A4 paper size settings and use 2.5 cm top, bottom, left and right margin.
» Use MS Word to prepare the course work.
o The section headings
» Title cases: Arial, font size 14, bold, left aligned.
o Body text and sub-headings
» Sub-headings: Arial, font size 12, bold, single-spaced.
» Body text: Arial, font size 12, single-spaced. Text must be ‘justified' aligned. Leave one blank line between paragraphs.
» The pages should be numbered consecutively, without any type of border.
o Diagram/Image/Graph/Data-Table
» Any kind image, figure or diagram taken/outsourced, must be cited with caption.
» Tables and graphs should be prepared using MS Excel or any other application whereas screenshots, photo of hand-made or scanned graphs and tables are not acceptable.
o Referencing

Referencing is a system that allows you to acknowledge the contributions of others in your writing and it emphasises the authenticity of the source of your information. Whenever you use ANY words, ideas or information from ANY source in your assignments, you must reference those sources. This means, if you quote the exact words of an author, if you paraphrase or reconstruct their words or if you summaries their ideas, you must provide a reference.
