The health of population is the fundamental concern of global public health. The first step is the pursuit of population health improvement is the measurement of of health and disease. Measurement is required to establish the magnitude of disease problems, define causal factors, explore potential solutions, and determine the impact of interventions. Measuring the impact of diseases on populations jn terms of mortality and morbidity and their consequences is essential for planning effective ways to reduce the burden of illness and for setting priorities.
