In this problem set, students learn about organizational environments: external, specific, and internal. After reviewing the components of an organization's environment, the impact of the environment on managerial decision making, and tools managers can use to respond to environmental changes, they also learn about organizational culture, a key component of the internal environment. Students will see how culture is built on underlying assumptions and values and expressed both through what people do and the artifacts that surround them. Finally, they apply their knowledge to a video case, observing the culture at Recycline and learning how to make a change in the environment.
