Fuel Consumption and Cars Disc brake pads are critical safety features on an automobile and should be replaced when the thickness has worn to approximately 2 mm. A random sample of automobiles entering a New Jersey State Inspection Station was obtained, and the brake-pad thickness on the left front tire was measured on each. Assume that the underlying distribution of brake-pad thicknesses is continuous. Use the sign test to determine whether there is any evidence that the median brake-pad thickness is less than 2 mm. Use a 5 0.10 for this test and find the exact p value.
