Helpful Hint for Celsius Temperature: It can be difficult to think about temperatures in a range you do not use in your daily life. Your body is approximately 37C, Room Temperature is between 20-25C, Refrigerators are 4C, and Freezers are - 20C.

Question A. At which temperature does enzyme A perform best? Enzyme B?

Question B. One of these enzymes is found in humans and the other in thermophilic (heat-loving) bacteria. Which enzyme would you predict comes from which organism? Explain.

Question C. From what you know about enzyme structure, explain why the rate of reaction catalyzed by enzyme A slows down at temperatures above 40C?

Question D. Would you expect other biomolecules to be affected by changes in temperature? Why or why not? Discuss for lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids.
