A full-size car (m = 1000 kg) is going to have a race down a hill, against a tiny toy car (m = 1 kg). Both will be released from rest at the top of the hill, and allowed to slide down, driven by gravity alone. The two cars are identical except for their size and mass, and both are going to coast down the same racecourse: a ramp of a fixed angle.

This time, assume that there is friction between the wheels and the road (rolling friction, specifically), but that the coefficient of friction is the same for the two cars. Neglect air resistance, and effects related to rotation of the wheels.

Who will win the race?

A) The 1000-kg full-size car will win.

B) It will be a tie.

C) No way to predict the winner without knowing the coefficient of friction.

D) The 1-kg toy car will win.

Please explain how you arrived at your answer.
