Question

Police officers, while in the course of their jobs, frequently encounter cultural differences in the citizens they interact with. Sometimes these differences are not in agreement with the laws police have to enforce. Do you feel that police officers should take into consideration the ethnic and cultural differences of the citizens they police? Is the law black and white? Should they enforce every law to the letter or is there a need to keep the cultural differences in mind when becoming a police officer? ( i.e., punishing one's child - see class notes).
