Beth, a young waitress, was working her nightly shift at Denny's when a rowdy teenager tripped her while she was carrying out a plate of pancakes to a hungry table. She fell and broke the distal portion of her radius of her left arm. Six months after the injury she is still unable to grasp with her left arm and experiences wrist drop. It was determined that the fracture sent a splinter of bone out that severed her radial nerve.
