There are four stages of issue maturity scale that would be ideal to be placed at Ford. The first stage is latent. This is where activists are aware of the issue of society. It involves little scientific knowledge and issues are often overlooked by the company. Secondly, there is the emerging stage. In this stage, there is political and media awareness of the issue. Thirdly, there is the consolidating stage. During this stage, there are emerging business practices. Voluntary initiatives are set up, and standards are developed. Fourthly, there is the institutionalized stage. This is where business norms are set up and become a normal part of the business model.
