Prompts:

  • (Smoking on Campus) As as a reminder, think about this as an economist. Should smoking on campus be banned ? Review the pros and cons of banning all smoking on campus. What about allowing a small amount of smoking? Can the Coase Theorem be used in this case (i.e., without campus or student government intervention, can an agreement be reached between campus smokers and nonsmokers)?

Externalities, environmental issues, income distribution, etc. tend to be contentious issues. I remind you to approach these prompts as an economist - your personal opinions, political believes, etc. should be set aside. There is a zero tolerance policy for harassing or demeaning comments.
